MOUNTAIN SKILLS 2

Our Mountain Skills 2 courses are run over two consecutive days, usually at weekends. They include a night navigation exercise on the first evening, of approximately 3 hours duration.

This course is designed to impart the necessary skills in navigation (in rain, mist or darkness) and knowledge of hazards, equipment and movement in steep ground so that you will be confident and able to safely pursue hill-walking as a hobby. It also provides the foundation training for those who wish to progress on to the national and internationally recognized leadership qualifications.

COURSE CONTENT

Consolidation of navigation skills acquired in Mountain Skills 1, compass work, route planning, navigation techniques, feature recognition, emergency procedures, night navigation, mountain rescue, mountain hypothermia, steep/broken ground movement skills.

Maps and compasses are provided for this course if required.
